Students completed Topic 9 test and we are skipping a few topics to began Topic 13 Time. We discussed analog and digital clocks and all of their features or differences. The standard for first graders is that they can tell time to the hour and half hour. I will be sending "Step up to Second Grade" work mats home for summer practice as well as topics that we aren't able to complete before the end of the year. Look for these to come home the last week and help your child practice a little math all summer!
In Language Arts we began sharing Fairy Tales, by discussing what parts are real and fantasy. We also talked about Fairy Tale story elements like magic, once upon a time beginnings and happily ever after endings. Students just love these classic tales and also all the fractured versions. Mr. Groves joined the class this afternoon to share his favorite tales Yo Hungry Wolf! and took the students outside to act out The True Story of the Three Little Pigs.
