Thank you to Mrs. McAllister for rotating through the Barnette Olympics stations with us last Friday and to those who turned in donations. Students enjoyed games both indoors and outside. It Friday we are walking to the Fire Station downtown and would like to have at least three volunteers to join us on our trip. Please email me if you will be able to chaperone. On Thursday students logged in to Mathletics.com for the first time. In your child's homework folder there is a Mathletics username and password taped to the inside cover. Barnette pays for a subscription for every child. It can be used at school and home. *Hint, password is case sensitive. As a teacher I can log in and see your child's progress. This is a great resource for your child to practice a variety of math skills. Also in math we continued with Topic 2 Addition Strategies. David Shannon is our amazing and hilarious new author. Students can't get enough of his semi-autobiographical book No David! We checked out his blog and celebrated "Talk like a Pirate Day" a day early by reading How I Became a Pirate which was illustrated by Mr. Shannon. The World According to Humphrey is our current chapter book. It's really astounding what you can learn about room 26 from a hamster's point of view. Other language arts activities included making words, learning about new reading strategies, and practice read to self. Coming up October 13th is Exhibit Night which will be hosted by the 1st and 2nd grades. Look for more information about how to volunteer or help with his event in next week's homework folder. If you haven't already, please consider becoming a member of the Barnette PTA. The cost is $10 per person and this dedicated group offers support to make many wonderful programs happen here at Barnette Magnet. Be sure to attend the Sept. 22nd general membership meeting at 5:30. He believes a wolf would be a good pet, because it would help him hunt moose. Colten treats others kindly by playing games with them to help them feel better. In his free time, Colten enjoys playing "Call of Duty Ghost". Football is a sport Colten likes to play with friends. A yummy treat for Colten is chocolate dipped vanilla ice cream. Sharks are an interesting sea animal he wants to know more about. Moe Williams is Colten's favorite author. |
