A GIANT thank you for all the donations and volunteers who helped to make our first quarter Exhibit Night a success! On Friday afternoon, Barnette students were entertained by the preview performance of Mulan Jr. put on by Mrs. Brazier's, Mrs. Downs', and Mrs. Willett's exploration students. Students received their new exploration schedules on Friday and will begin their second quarter classes on Monday. Remember to sign-up for parent-teacher conferences in the school lobby or email me a good time to meet on October 26th or 27th. Ms. Hood-Sisson will be holding a Scholastic Book Fair during conferences times through the end of that week. We finished up our unit on "friendship" by creating a storyboard from the book Amos and Boris by William Steig. In math, we took Topic 3 test and watched a Brainpop Jr video on arrays, beginning multiplication. We explored odd & even numbers by writing our address on our "Snowy Day" houses and handing them on "Odd" or "Even" street. If you notice your child's address is missing it could be a good thing to practice with them. | "Second Grade Student Spotlight"Evelyn feels close to both her brother and mother because they are both very supportive. She has a guinea pig and two dogs. One is named Bailey and the other is Maggie. Evelyn speaks up for others if someone is being treated unkindly. She enjoys playing Mario Cart on the Wii when she has free time. Every Sunday she takes horseback riding lessons. Spaghetti with meatballs is a food she loves. Most times when she enjoys this favorite meal, she gets it on her face. Evelyn's favorite series is Baby Mouse. She would love to travel to Hawaii, because it is warm and her grandma has been there before. |
