It is important to remember that your child should bring their baggie book to school each day so that they can practice fluent reading with someone at home each night. Thank you to Tammi Ganguli, Tanya O'Brian, and Corinne White for reading and exchanging books weekly. We really need a volunteer reader for Friday morning. Please let us know if you can help!
Coming up October 14th is Exhibit Night which will be hosted by the 1st and 2nd grades. Thanks to Mrs. Yeats, we got all of the potatoes donated for the dinner! Many families sent back the peach volunteer sheet or sent an email me about how they would like to help. Our class is in charge of bringing the ice cream bars. Please send in 2-3 boxes of ice cream bars with your child before this Friday.
Monday will be the last day to place a scholastic book order for the month of September. I will be placing the order on the 29th and it will take a week to 10 days for books to arrive.
Students have enjoyed many "pigeon" stories from Mo Willems this past week. On Friday we began writing our own "Don't Let the Pigeon" stories, which we will finish and share this week. We'll finish up our unit on with the Knuffle Bunny series.
In math we continue to learn different ways to subtract or find the missing number in subtraction sentences. We also began timed math fact practice which we will continue throughout the year to gain accuracy and fluency with our addition and subtraction facts. Our class will finish up Unit 2 this week and have our assessment on Thursday.
