Moving through our first few weeks back to school, students have been busy learning about homophones, writing and sharing poetry, and learning about new classroom responsibilities. Bowling fun was what the class was up to last Friday at Arctic Bowl. It was a nice brisk walk over and back, but students cheered each other on with each toss of the ball. Last week we began Topic 8, Adding Two-Digit Numbers. Students learned about different forms of poetry: lyrical, free-verse, narrative, and humerous. SAVE THE DATE: February 12th at 1:00 will be our Valentines and Verses poetry share. That evening there will be an Alice in Wonderland family dance held in the gym. Admission will be $5 per family and photo booth pictures will be available for $3 to help our Students Council raise money. Last year they purchased picnic tables for the playground. Our pantry is empty so if you would like to pick up snacks for the classroom they would be greatly appreciated. Ski club continues to meet on Tuesday and Thursday, weather permitting. Pick up a detailed handout in the office if your child is interested. Don't forget to fill out those healthy features logs Turn them into Ms. Simon at the end of each month and receive prizes! | Second Grade Spotlight |
